Lucky Emperor Casino is a bit of a mixed bag, but for players who enjoy a well-rounded casino with a great introductory offer and a reputable VIP program it will deliver an enjoyable gaming experience. Progressive jackpots, generous slots payouts and random drawings for huge cash prizes are the big attractions.
Promotions and VIP Treatment
The first thing that you see when opening the casino URL is an invitation to enter a $60,000 random cash drawing. That's a good way to start off. Checking the terms and conditions, it's a pretty straight-forward promotion that only requires you to be a subscribed casino member with a real name and email address on file. The lucky winner will face the requirement of being used for casino publicity however so the camera-shy may wish to obstain.

Casino Rewards sends out a weekly newsletter with promotions and other bonuses, which I prefer over the monthly versions that some sites put out. Both Lucky Emperor Casino and Casino Rewards are part of the Rewards Buddies program that, while it smacks of MLM and pyramid schemes, can be a major bonus if you have friends who also enjoy online gaming. It probably won't replace your day job but it's easy to see how some players could do quite well who have a circle of gaming pals who don't mind switching casinos (or adding a new one). It works on three levels of referrals. The first are people who you refer directly. As they play they rack up VIP loyalty points, which you can collect once they have reached a certain level. A first level referral can be worth up to £1,000 depending on how much they play. That money, via VIP points, can only be redeemed once so it's best to let them go for a while before cashing in. Second level buddies are the friends that your original referrals make to the program and you can also get up to £300 from their VIP points. Going even further there's a third level where the second level buddies can refer a friend of their own and you can still cash in for up to £100. Not bad. Personally though, I prefer to concentrate on the games rather than who's playing what. It does add a social element to things.
Software and Design
Lucky Emperor uses Microgaming Systems' Viper software that contains over 200 games, many of which are updated or added to regularly. With so many options available I particularly liked the LuckyEmporerCasino interface that features a games spotlight on the left, message center and important updates (like promotions!) in the center and three very easy to read active lists with your favorite games on the top left, new games in the middle and "Games we think you will like" below that. Links and telephone numbers for customer support are highlighted just below all these options so that all the important stuff is right at your finger tips and playing is fast and enjoyable. Banking functionality is available on the same interface on the blue button simply called, "Bank."
The site design obviously evokes an oriental theme with two cartoon-ish pretty ladies in Shanghai dresses and golden dragons surrounding the Lucky Emperor logo. The GUI or graphical user interface is extremely easy to use but I was a little disappointed in the quality of the aesthetics, which seem rushed and a bit cheap. There is also a flash version for those who are unsure about the games.

Security and Payout Ratios
Lucky Emperor Casino rates a bit low on the security side for me for one specific reason: they do not publish the location of the casino and that impacts the rules and regulations that the business must operate under. It may be old fashioned but if there's a dispute, I like knowing where to envision the duel going down. Otherwise they are pretty advanced about 128-bit SSL secured financial transactions and an avid no-spam and data privacy policy. In the way of professional affiliations they are a member of the Interactive Gaming Council and sport a Kahnawake gaming commission sticker on the bottom of the homepage, but fail to mention it in the About us or security profiles pages. eCOGRA verified their payout report for July 2007 is: 97.09% for slots games, 97.08% for table games and 98.15% for poker games, and 97.15% overall.
